June 15, 2012 Glacier Park

Next morning, we got up and had a wonderful breakfast - Charlie made fried egg sandwiches using the tomatoes we bought.  Charlie decided to change the oil in Bessie, so  I went to check in and learned we could only keep our spot for one more night, ( we wanted to stay two) so we picked another and moved – only thing was we could not get it level, so we picked another one and moved again.  (Charlie’s card saves us half the cost of the campground too, so we are only paying 11.50 a night.)   and we got in free to the park again.....Sweet! ;  )

Once we got settled in our new spot, we took our lunch supplies and headed out.  We had lunch on an overlook that was next to the lake – yep, beautiful.  This place is different from Yellowstone in that in seems greener to me and there are more open lakes.  There is an abundance of greens and blues everywhere, and the flowers are starting to bloom.  I took many, many pictures of the wildflowers…. hard to imagine I know…

We did as much of the "Road to the Sun" as we could, and then drove over to Many Glaciers.  We saw a young black bear ( that was actually brown- who knew they could be any color other than black?)  and took  pictures of it until it walked into the woods, and we moved on.  When we came back by the spot about 10 minutes later, there it was again, just on the side of the road - chopping off the tops of dandelions!  It was so close to us - it was amazing.  Then a ranger came and shooed  us away....

We stopped at a picnic area to see if there was any where to fish and Charlie spotted these baby mule deer in the woods.

Charlie also found this awesome stream rushing thru a gorge… ( pretend the pic is here)

While over at Many Glaciers, we saw mountain goats and their little ones -
 ( they were sooo cute...)
Came back and Charlie started a fire.  We cooked out for dinner and grilled the chicken and pork we had purchased at Shelby.  I hope to freeze it and just thaw it - thinking it will be a quick meal on a night we are tired.  Later that night, we went back out and we saw one Elk, a few white tailed deer – (one charged right past our car), two more black bear walked right across the road in front of us and then scampered up the hill,

and then we saw…… two Moose!   They were  young ones, without the huge antlers, and actually, though beautiful because they are in the wild and it was awesome to see them, they are not really very pretty animals…. : )  but you probably heard us we were so excited when we saw them!

Think it was a pretty amazing day - beautiful scenery, and beautiful wildlife.
