Tons and tons of fish. Up and fishing by 5:30 and it was throw and snag - maybe loose, but then just throw and catch another. I think that at least 400 fish ran threw our hole this morning, they were just nose to tail most of the morning. I caught my limit and Charlie caught two big ones. It took both of us to carry them out of the river to the other set of steps where Charlie filets our fish, when we do it at the river. We only got two fileted before the bears ran us off, so we had to take the others whole to the cannery. -
Gabe came up while we were there trying to filet - we didn't recognize him - but then he said, "Hey King Lady"so we knew it was him. We laughed, but Charlie loved that I have an official nickname in Alaska. : )
The filets we took this morning from two fish, weighed 7 lbs and the other three whole fish weighed a total of 27 pounds - so they are averaging 9 pounds a piece.
Headed to Homer from the Cannery and will leave on the Alaskan Ferry at 8:45 tonight for Kodiak.
Noticed we were getting a flat tire in Homer, and put some air in it and will see if it is a hole or just needs to reseal. While at NAPA - we saw the coolest motorcycle made out of things like forks, and spoons and other utensils. There were two of them, and they were amazing!
Got on the Ferry with no problem, parked Didi in the hull, and went up to find a place to sleep. I laid out the sleeping bag in the solarium, and Charlie slept in the recliner lounge. The ferry itself is very nice, and plenty of room. Met a few couples on board who were also headed to Kodiak.
