Up and fishing by 5:15 - for those of you who know me, you know I must be getting a great deal of satisfaction and fun out of doing this, or I would be sleeping in.... : ) Charlie likes getting up at crack of dawn o'thirty however, but he is also loving catching these fish.
He has gotten so good that he is coaching several people who show up down there and really have no idea what they are doing. Usually they end up catching a fish, sometimes for the first time ever. But people were very generous in teaching us, so he is doing a good job of paying it forward.
We both caught our limit today - definitely had to work at it, but eventually we did. I have gotten to where I tie my own flies ( quite neatly I might add) and handle putting on and taking of the weights depending on what is needed for the level and swiftness of water. I still let Charlie take the fish off and put them on the stringer, they won't stop flopping and I have some difficulty doing that part. Charlie just flicks the hook out and picks them up - so he has in done in no time.
For lunch we had locally made pimento cheese, elk sausage, apples, and smoked salmon. It was a nice picnic type lunch.
I slept most of the afternoon, trying to shake this cold - Charlie made his wonderful homemade beef/veggie soup for supper - said it would make me feel better - and he was right, it warmed my insides up and was delicious. He always makes the best soups.
Later I dug out the NyQuil, tissues, cough drops and Zicam from the doctor mom kit and snuggled in for the night.
