Charlie is fishing this morning, and I am headed down the road to a laundry mat that says it has WiFi. Well, it is true, they do have WiFi, but you have to pay for it, and since I did not know how well it would work, I chose not to - just washed clothes and organized my pictures.
Charlie met me there, took a hot shower - 1.00 for 3 minutes - and we finished up the laundry and headed back south. Didn't go back to the springs, but may find another one somewhere.
I picked some daisies off the roadside and put them in a vase in the RV. What I really wanted to do is dig them up and bring them home so we would have flowers from Alaska - not sure that is legal though....
Back thru Anchorage, bought some Swedish Pimples to use for trout, I know, gross name, but they are usually sold out so they must be good... and then headed for the North Pole to visit with Santa. He was there when we arrived and we chatted with him for a bit, he said he was aware the grand kids had all been good this year, and he was expecting them to continue. : )
It was a fun stop. The town light poles are striped like candy canes, and there are Christmas flags long the streets. Christmas never leaves the North Pole.
Went a bit further and stopped at Harding Lake for the night, big campground, huge lake, reminded us of Claytor lake. Built a fire and stayed outside for a bit with the help of the OFF lantern and Deet. Charlie always braves the bugs, but I am a bit less brave, but tonight I hung in there for a while.
The ground was covered in about 6 inches of moss, so when you walked thru the woods looking for firewood, it was like walking on sponges.

ReplyDeleteWow go the North Pole, see Santa, Christmas every day...did you find me a cool present? Santa knows what I want! And with the text today of Charlie catching his limit of salmon, so cool and now I am so jealous! Are you gonna go to see Mt McKinley and hike about 2000 feet - so you can say you did? Thanks for all the details,so neat! How far north will you go, all the way to Nome or Barrow? Miss you but so excited for you as well! Jan returned from her week-long class in Roanoke, still has work to do but loved the course, she'll do an even greater job in the fall, her kids are so lucky! Oh, had a great chat with Caroline, she's getting settled in in Kansas and went to a couple of parties with David and his colleagues. All our love!
ReplyDeleteEmma and Cooper are THRILLED that Grandpa got to see Santa. Cooper said to tell Santa thank you for his four-wheeler and he loves him. Emma wants to know if Santa is sending any gifts back with Grandpa. LOL! I told her he only sends gifts on Christmas. Sorry just now catching up on all of this. We've been spending most of our days swimming in Pam's pool. Love and miss you guys! XOXO
