Back on the road, headed to Denali

July 2, 2012

We off off to find new waders... decided not to tear up the other ones - so on our way through Anchorage, we stopped and bought a pair from Wally world, that are breathable, and have the neoprene booties.  That meant we also had to buy the waders to go with them.  We are totally decked out for any situation now! ( we had to shop at three store to find these so we spent the better half of the morning tracking them down)  One of the places we went was a Sam's club though, so we had polish sausages for lunch..: )

For the most part, Parks Hwy is a good road.  We passed some beautiful creeks and mountain ranges. I seem to say that a lot don't I, but it is true, this is a beautiful piece of country up here. . .

We made it to North Denali View point, and stayed there for the night.  It was really an observation point, but they allow camping there, and we were one of about 5 RV's stopping there.  Met two couples, one was from Louisiana and the other from Texas!  This was their third trip up here, and the second one of their traveling together. Charlie fixed the wire to the water heater - ( that man is amazing at figuring things out) and added brake fluid to Bessie.  She certainly has been using the brakes on this trip!  I made beef burritochildas - no that is not a typo, it is burritos with green enchilada sauce and cream cheese - try it - it is amazingly good.

Talked to Mom today - wow home is really experiencing some intense heat and really bad storms - I hope everyone is okay, and that you are all managing to stay cool.  We think of all of you often and miss everyone.

Tomorrow we are getting up early and heading to Denali.  I think we are only about 70 miles away.  We are going to wing it and see if we can walk in and get on one of the shuttles...
